The Data Journalist will help us shape the future of Stats Perform News’ industry-leading sports content, helping to drive fan engagement for a range of global media outlets, providing, data led driven content, bringing audiences closer to the stories that matter across a range of sports. 

You will have a strong track record in journalism producing content in the digital sphere. Experience of working in a quick-paced work environment, across multiple products for our editorial services. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a flair for producing different types of content for several mediums and a strong understanding of the unique nature of providing content as part of an agency model. 

Day to Day responsibility will include working under tight deadlines to produce regular match previews, news articles and other data-led written content across a wide variety of sports. Supporting the curation of third-party content, including editing, planning, scheduling, and publishing sports articles.

Act as an editing resource for other members of the team, supporting the quality control of content across various projects and departments. Assisting with a regular output of text commentary content, through writing live updates and playing an important role in maintaining high standards with editing. This will include enriching existing written live content with data analysis and graphics.

• Work with our team of freelancers to assist with assigning tasks and shift management.
• Supporting the planning of written data-led content across daily and weekly timeframes. In addition to content creation, be prepared to have a strong voice in the editorial decision-making process day to day. 
• Our focus on bespoke content and SEO driven content, means you will work for some of the biggest names in sport helping them reach their audiences with data led content that informs and drives engagement. 
• Specialised data led betting content will be a focus for the team and you will be required to write bespoke content that informs and educates bettors. Idea creation and passion for sport, whilst being able to entwine our unique data through your copy is an essential. 

Required Qualifications:

• Willingness to work around the sporting schedule, which features regular evening and weekend work, with flexible hours around major events.
• Comprehensive football knowledge, particularly across Europe’s top five leagues and other leading competitions such as MLS.
• In-depth multisport knowledge (American football, basketball, F1, rugby, cricket, tennis, golf).
• Ability to produce both traditional and data-focused editorial content to a high standard.
• Understanding how raw data can be turned into compelling insight and sharable articles.
• Excellent command of English with knowledge of traditional industry styles for written content.
• The ability to work as part of a small team across time zones and multitask when needed.
• Ability to write and edit content across multiple sports. 
• Knowledge of the Opta brand and Stats Perform News. 
• Previous experience with content promotion on social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube). 
• Previous experience with SEO tools.
• Experience with betting focused content.
