We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our Data & Analytics team, reporting directly to the Head of Business Intelligence. This role is pivotal in analyzing real-time player data, developing predictive models, optimizing player engagement, and ensuring responsible gaming practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machine learning, statistical modelling, and big data technologies, with a focus on driving actionable insights in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.

Responsibilities:

Data Analysis & Modeling

• Analyze and interpret large-scale, complex datasets (e.g., player behavior, transaction histories, betting trends, game performance) to uncover insights and opportunities.
• Develop and implement predictive models for player retention, personalization, responsible gaming, and fraud detection.
•  Conduct A/B testing on model performance and iteratively refine algorithms to maximize business impact.
•  Leverage statistical methods, machine learning, and deep learning techniques to drive key business decisions.
• Build customer segmentation models to enhance marketing campaigns and personalized player experiences.

Algorithm Development & Machine Learning

• Design and optimize machine learning algorithms (supervised & unsupervised) to improve key business metrics such as customer lifetime value, churn prediction, and risk management.
• Develop real-time anomaly detection systems to monitor suspicious betting patterns and potentially fraudulent activity.
• Deploy machine learning models in production environments, ensuring scalability and robustness.
• Implement reinforcement learning approaches for sportsbook odds optimization and casino game dynamics.

Business Intelligence & Reporting

• Work closely with Product, Marketing, and Compliance teams to define KPIs and reporting structures that align with business objectives.
• Create interactive dashboards and visualizations to communicate insights to both technical and non-technical audiences using Power BI, Tableau, or other visualization tools.
• Automate reporting pipelines to ensure real-time data availability and decision-making.

Regulatory & Compliance Awareness

• Work with compliance teams to ensure data governance, security, and regulatory adherence, including AML (Anti-Money Laundering) regulations and responsible gaming guidelines.
• Employ secure data processing techniques to protect player data and privacy.
• Stay up to date with evolving gaming regulations and ensure analytics initiatives comply with industry standards.

Research & Innovation

• Stay ahead of the latest data science trends, machine learning methodologies, and AI advancements, particularly in the iGaming and online sports betting space.
• Experiment with new algorithms, big data technologies, and AI-driven approaches to improve player experience and operational efficiency.
• Research and implement natural language processing (NLP) techniques for player sentiment analysis and chatbot enhancements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, and Marketing teams to integrate data-driven insights into product roadmaps and promotional strategies.
• Present complex data findings in clear, concise, and actionable formats to senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with DevOps and Engineering teams to optimize data infrastructure, model deployment, and real-time analytics pipelines.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Strong academic background in statistical modeling, predictive analytics, and AI/ML methodologies.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in programming languages: Python, R, SQL.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn.
• Strong understanding of statistical analysis, probability theory, and hypothesis testing.
• Hands-on experience with big data technologies: Spark, Hadoop, AWS Redshift, Snowflake, Google BigQuery.
• Database expertise: MySQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP.
• Experience in deploying machine learning models in production environments.
• Experience with Power BI or Tableau for reporting and dashboarding.

Industry Experience

• 3+ years of experience in a data science, analytics, or AI/ML role, preferably within gambling, gaming, fintech, or a highly regulated industry.
• Understanding of player behavior analytics, betting trends, and customer lifecycle metrics in the online gaming industry.
• Strong knowledge of fraud detection, risk management, and responsible gaming analytics.

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills

• Ability to translate business challenges into data science solutions.
• Experience handling unstructured data, including text mining and NLP applications.
• Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to deliver practical, high-impact insights.

Soft Skills

• Excellent communication skills to present findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong collaborative mindset to work across multiple departments.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while handling multiple projects.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Snowflake for data warehousing.
• Background in fraud detection, risk management, or responsible gaming initiatives.
• Scripting or automation skills for data pipelines (e.g., Airflow, Apache Kafka).
• Knowledge of gaming regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
• Experience working with real-time betting odds and sports analytics.
• Understanding of blockchain analytics for crypto-based betting platforms.
• Hands-on experience with MLOps and automated machine learning (AutoML).
