The Role

Legend is hiring a PostgreSQL Database Developer, reporting directly to our Engineering Manager.

Our product relies heavily on accurate and timely data collection, processing, and presentation. As a critical component of our technology stack, the PostgreSQL Database Developer plays a vital role in designing and optimizing our database infrastructure to ensure seamless data flow, fast query performance, and reliable system operation, ultimately enabling us to deliver a high-quality user experience.

Your Impact:

    • Design and implement database architectures to support application development, including data modeling, schema design, and indexing strategies
    • Develop and maintain PostgreSQL databases, including creating and modifying database objects such as tables, views, stored procedures, and functions in SQL and PL/pgSQL
    • Write and optimize SQL queries to improve database performance, including query tuning, indexing, and caching
    • Ensure data integrity and security by implementing data validation, backup and recovery procedures, and access control mechanisms
    • Collaborate with application developers to integrate databases with applications, including troubleshooting database-related issues and providing database support for application development and testing

What You’ll Bring:

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in database development, administration, and maintenance, with a focus on PostgreSQL
    • Experience with SQL, PL/pgSQL, and other related technologies
    • Understanding of database normalization concepts
    • Knowledge of JSONB and PostgreSQL support for JSONB
    • Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and scripting languages, such as Bash, Perl or Python
    • Experience with the GIT version control system
    • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a team environment
    • Familiarity with database development and testing tools, such as Sqitch and pgTAP, is a plus

The Interview Process:

    • 1st: Initial Chat with Talent Partner (30 mins via Zoom)
    • 2nd: Technical Interview with our team, Engineering manager and Senior Database Developer (60 mins video via Zoom)
    • 3rd: Take home task - you will be given 5 days to complete the task
    • 4th: Meet the Product people and HR (50 mins video via Zoom)
