What's the position?

We are seeking a Staff Backend Engineer specializing in Pricing to join our Quantitative Sports team. As a Staff Backend Engineer, you will be a key technical leader responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the backend systems that power our pricing infrastructure. This role requires an individual who's technically exceptional, able to architect scalable solutions, and can lead the implementation of sophisticated pricing models for our casino and sports betting platforms.

What are we looking for?

• Extensive experience in designing and implementing high-performance, scalable backend systems
• Deep understanding of pricing algorithms and models in the context of online gaming and sports betting
• Expertise in distributed systems and microservices architecture
• Proficiency in languages such as Java, Go, Rust, C++ for backend development
• Strong knowledge of database technologies, both SQL and NoSQL
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS
• Ability to optimize systems for low-latency, high-throughput operations
• Expertise in developing RESTful APIs and real-time data processing systems
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Experience in implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in backend engineering, with a focus on high-performance systems
• Familiarity with NFL and/or NBA, including understanding of how league-specific data and events impact pricing systems in sports betting
• Proven track record of leading the design and implementation of complex backend systems
• Extensive experience with pricing systems in gaming, finance, or a related field
• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and system design principles
• Experience with event-driven architectures and message queuing systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ)

Preferred:

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Experience in the igaming and sports betting industry
• Familiarity with machine learning and its applications in pricing
• Contributions to open-source projects or published technical articles
• Experience with real-time odds adjustment and risk management systems
